BIMS registration
Step 1

BIMS Registration & Onboarding

Users wishing to access the full benefit of TERAS need to have a BIMS account.

    1. Before accessing TERAS, users should register on BIMS. https://bims.tetfund.gov.ng
    2. Users without a BIMS account, users should contact the Director of ICT of their institution. Only the DICT of the institution can onboard a user to BIMS.
    3. Using your BIMS account, you can access resources in TERAS as a student or staff of any tertiary institution.

TERAS Roles

TERAS supports a variety of roles. Please ensure when enrolling in BIMS, you are captured in the proper role for your institution.

1. Learners & Students

Students can use available services such as EagleScan for similarity checking, the TERAS repository for research, academic journals through EBSCO and ICDL digital literacy programmes.

2. Staff, Lecturers & Researchers

Lecturers and researchers can explore available journals, online learning, digital literacy programmes and institutional opportunities for professional development.

3. Institutional Roles

TERAS empowers institutions with managing services on TERAS for their student and staff, also enables processing of grants, ICDL programs for Digital Literacy, interventions, etc at the institutional level, where applicable. For each beneficiary institution, the following roles are available:

3a. Director of ICT (DICT)

Helps manage institutional identities through BIMS and TERAS.

3b. Librarian & Repository Manager

Primarily responsible for for managing institutional repositories on TERAS, EagleScan, and eJournal access

3c. TETFund Desk Officer

Coordinates grant requests and institutional interventions.

Your first sign-in

From BIMS enrolment to full campus access

Once your institution captures you in BIMS, your TERAS ID unlocks every service you are entitled to — one sign-in to the services available through your institution, where single sign-on is supported.

Accessing Services on TERAS

All services in the TERAS network may be accessed depending on your specific role within your institution. Once enrolled in BIMS, you should receive an email from BIMS confirming your enrolment. Follow the instructions on BIMS to update your profile. Once done, you may log in to TERAS and open the services available to you.

What is TERAS?

TERAS brings learning, research and campus services together for participating Nigerian tertiary institutions. Sign in through your institution to see what is available to you.

Do I need a separate password for every platform?

For services connected through single sign-on, your institutional sign-in takes you into the platform without another password. Some services may have different access requirements.

Who can use TERAS?

Students, lecturers, researchers and institutional staff at participating institutions can use TERAS. The services you see depend on your institution and your role.

How do I get an account?

Your institution manages enrolment through its identity team and BIMS. If you have not been enrolled, contact your institution’s ICT directorate.

Why can't I see a particular service?

A service may not be available to your institution or role. Check your profile and contact your institution’s ICT team if you think access is missing.
